HOW LONG CAN THE SUN GO ON SHINING FOR?

Many pupils might have picked up (or even studied in earlier lessons) that the Sun has a future estimated life of between 4 and 5 billion years before it runs out of fuel. Once your pupils can do binding energy calculations, they can do this worksheet, which leads them through how to calculate this from basic principles. It's a great way of linking Astrophysics and Nuclear Physics synoptically:
